Nestled in the heart of Yosemite, Gwyn and Cody embarked on their happily ever after, intertwining the beauty of nature with the sacredness of marriage during their Elopement at the Redwoods in Yosemite. Their choice of venue offered a sanctuary away from everyday life and the crowds you find in a national park. Another bonus was that it was just a short drive from the Yosemite Valley. This destination wedding was the perfect mix of traditional wedding and adventure elopement. For anyone who wants to celebrate with their family but still get married somewhere beautiful, peaceful, and natural, this is the wedding for you.

Getting Ready

There are so many important moments on your wedding day, and getting ready is no exception! We like to guide our couples to take plenty of time to take in the moments. We remind them to slow down and just enjoy being with the people they love. These are the moments that last forever!

They started their day with candid getting-ready photos and video, and man did these two know how to start a wedding day right! Surrounded by their best friends, they took time to enjoy the little things like brunch and mimosas while doing hair and makeup. Cody and the groomsmen celebrated with whiskey shots and cigars.

Cody took some time to reminisce with each of his groomsmen as they shared marriage advice. This led to laughs and the reminder "Happy Wife, Happy Life!" That was followed by so many words of support because Gwyn and Cody are perfect for each other! Gwyn chose to do a first look with her little brother and her bridal party. After all the tears and hugs, she took a moment with each person for a photo. Moments of advice and well wishes from her besties followed. The supportive words, candid moments, tears, and genuine laughter were heartwarming.

The Ceremony

Jenn of Wilde Heart Weddings was their officiant and guided them through a ceremony. This included telling their love story and celebrating their unique connection. They did this by incorporating all the traditional elements such as sharing vows they had written for each other, a ring exchange, and a handfasting ritual where Gwyn & Cody "tied the knot"! This was connected to the verse from Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

In a lighthearted moment, Gwyn and Cody decided who would say their vows first with a game of rock-paper-scissors. So much laughter and happy tears followed as they exchanged promises of love and devotion. Gwyn's words, "I will marry you a million times, in any lifetime," echoed through the surroundings, encapsulating the depth of their love. Following the ceremony, Gwyn and Cody enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour, surrounded by loved ones.

Dancing and Golden Hour

As the day transitioned into evening, Gwyn and Cody shared their first dance as husband and wife. This was accompanied by the melodic strains of "Neon Moon" and a heartfelt serenade from Cody's grandmother. Amidst laughter and joy, they continued the celebrations with dances with their parents. All of it culminated in lively dancing and cherished moments with loved ones.

Just in time for golden hour, they snuck away for a quiet moment and a few portraits of just the two of them. Surrounded by waterfalls and flower-filled meadows they took in the beauty of Yosemite National Park, and shared some moments as newlyweds!
