Planning a destination wedding in the grand Southwest is a decision you won’t regret. With its diverse landscapes, endless options for adventure, and unforgettable vendors, this region offers a luxury of options for couples seeking to make their wedding one to remember. However, selecting the perfect destination can feel overwhelming.

To help you navigate this exciting adventure, we've compiled a list of top tips to consider when choosing the ideal Southwest location for your dream wedding.

1. Define Your Vision:

Start by envisioning the atmosphere and setting you desire for your special day. Are you drawn to the rugged beauty of desert landscapes, or do you see a forest or beach backdrop? Understanding your vision will help narrow down the myriad of options available in the Southwest. With locations like Big Sur, Grand Canyon, Zion, Sedona and a vast number of other exciting choices, the hardest part is usually narrowing down which is the best fit for your theme. Luckily, whether your wedding is high-end Mediterranean or dreamy boho, you have locations and venues for every vibe

2. Consider the Time of Year and Weather

While the Southwest is known for its generally favorable climate, it's important to research the specific weather patterns of your chosen destination. Keep in mind that temperatures and conditions can vary significantly across the region, so choose a time of year that aligns with your comfort and aesthetic preferences.

Moab is perfect late spring or early fall (early spring there are a lot of cottonwood trees in bloom so you might be coughing & sneezing).

3. Explore Permitting and Regulations

Different destinations may have requirements and regulations regarding outdoor events, particularly in national parks or protected areas. Research the necessary permits, zoning regulations, and any restrictions that may apply to your chosen location to avoid any logistical surprises.

4. Scout and Visit Potential Locations

Whenever possible, visit your chosen destination before finalizing your decision. This firsthand experience will provide invaluable insights into the ambiance, logistics, and overall feel of the location. It will also allow you to connect with local vendors and professionals who can help bring your vision to life.

Top Southwest locations I’d recommend:

1. Zion National Park - Not many people know there are tons of beautiful places to get married just outside of the park that offer amazing views of Zion without all the crowds.

2. Snow Canyon State Park - This park has SO much variety in such a small area. Red rock, sand dunes, white rock, slot canyons, lava rock, mountains in the distance, etc.

3. Moab - Moab is a desert dweller's dream. Between Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and all the surrounding BLM land, the options are endless. Early and late winter are great times to consider to experience less crowds.
