I've heard them all... "I could never do a boudoir session! I'm too old, too out of shape, and the outfits-- just no. I could never". Of all the reasons people have for not doing a boudoir session, I have just as many, if not more reasons, for why you SHOULD do a boudoir session.
Boudoir sessions aren't just about sexy pictures in lingerie. They are about confidence, empowerment, self-love, and appreciating the person you are! Whatever the reason for your boudoir session-- a gift for your partner, a celebration of a physical milestone, or just because you simply have always wanted to-- I guarantee you will not regret it.
As someone who has made it their career to help people see themselves as they never have before, I get how apprehensive and even scary boudoir can be. Rest assured that I will be with you every step of the way! From showing you poses, giving advice on outfits, and even blasting some music to help you relax, I will do everything I can to help you feel safe and comfortable. Below are some of the most common reasons I hear why people don't want to do boudoir (and why YOU should).
1. I need to lose weight
I hear this more than any other reason. A professional photographer knows how to pose you and position the light to celebrate all your gorgeous curves.
2. I'm not a model. I don't know how to pose. I'll look awkward. You don't have to be a model.
Even professionals are taught and coached how to pose. I will pose, guide and direct you throughout your session.
3. I don't buy or own lingerie
I have an in-depth lingerie guide that not only talks about all the different types of lingerie and what looks best but also has links to my favorite lingerie websites. Not to mention you don't even have to use lingerie. Maybe your partner has a favorite sports team that you can wear a jersey for or have a denim jacket or sharp blazer you love. We can make it work!
4. My partner/spouse wouldn't approve
First, you should know that my studio is your safe space. I don't make any judgments and I respect your privacy. Just know that you are my client and you are my priority. You deserve the opportunity to feel beautiful and valued. This shoot is really only about one person - YOU.
5. I'm too old for boudoir
Not possible. You are never too old. I've photographed women of all ages, from 19-65. Embrace who you are throughout life's many wonderful stages.
6. I don't have anyone to give the photos to
No matter who the photos are for, the experience is for you. Beyond walking away with some incredible photos, you will be pampered by a hair and makeup artist to highlight just how beautiful you already are.
7. Everyone will see my pictures
Nope! I respect my clients privacy. You get to choose if you want me to share your images or not. I have an image release that has four options.
1. Full Release
2. Select Release (you pick the images)
3. Anonymous release
4. No Release
8. I don't know how to be sexy
The best and most fulfilling shoots are with women who don't feel they can "do sexy" in front of the camera. I understand how vulnerable my clients feel when they enter my studio. It is my job to make you feel comfortable and in a safe place. You'll see how laid back I am and we'll have an amazing time.
9. I'm too shy
It's just me and you in the room. Every session I do, it's nonstop laughter and smiles. You might walk in shy and reserved, but you will leave full of confidence feeling like a million bucks!
10. [Insert any other excuse here!]
Your fear and self-doubt can come up with endless reasons for you to not do anything outside your comfort zone. So much freedom is found when you embrace everything about yourself; perceived flaws & all. You will learn to stop caring what other people think and realize that no one focuses on the things that you do.
Other people look at you and only see what kind of friend you are, the love you give, the compassion you share, and the joy you bring.
By stripping your mask away, you see what is inside you and begin to know that that is what matters most. You become an example for other women. You become someone who will inspire others to strip off their own mask & begin a journey of their own!
